body chemistry for the lose...

Add to Memories Tell a Friend
So yeah, because my sleep schedule's been so fucked up, I haven't been taking my Wellbutrin. I really really need to remember that it's not optional.

Dinner tonight, which should have been dinner last night, was good, but it was only half of what I meant to serve and the meat was just a little too pink even though my meat thermometer said it was a lot more done that it turned out to be.* I really didn't feel the cooking vibe so we had the caramelized butternut squash/sweet potato dish (which was very good) and lamb, which was very good even if it was a little pink. We'll have greens and mashed potatoes tomorrow.

Things would have been a lot smoother if I'd been taking my meds, as it was I stressed this one waaaaaay too much.

*Um, hi...I'm really not in the mood for recommendations or helpful hints or solutions or whatever here.

so much for Thanksgiving on the right day

Right now I'm mostly thankful that I no longer have a migraine.

There's food in the oven and I'll do a much longer post about it all later.

Hope those of you who celebrate (and those how don't) had a great day!

simple yet tasty

Take a bagel, slice it, toast it and put a generous amount of cream cheese on both slices. Then take a couple artichoke hearts and chop them up fine* and use them as sammich filling. Serve with Kalamata olives on the side.

Speaking of food, we got our box yesterday; I was just too wiped to report it.

Persimmons, tangerines, apples, kale, chard, lettuce, some other green and sweet potatoes.

huh....

Due to a bit of stupidity on my part, I spent the day without internets. And you know...I missed people, but not the internets themselves. Lemme know if anything interesting happened.

Actually, you all should be glad I spent the day offline; I'm grumpy and crampy and apparently someone, probably Og, slept in just the wrong spot on the bed, forcing me to sleep in a certain position, so my knees and back hurt. It's not that I wouldn't happily kick him off the bed, it's that he does it in the middle of the night and I automatically adjust without waking up.

For those not on my NaNo filter, I'm declaring it a half win. I wrote 20,500 words and I'll probably manage another 5,000 before the end of the month. Or who knows, maybe I won't. Still that's 20K of fic I didn't have on October 31, so there you have it.

I have to go to our local upscale grocery store to pick up the lamb tomorrow. That's gonna be fun. I also have to go to Coco's to pick up the pie so at least I'll have French Toast for lunch or something.

GIP - Merlin OT4

Add to Memories Tell a Friend
I've been sucked into Merlin, at least watching (girlchild loves it but gets scared when things get tense) and reading the fic, some of which is so good I had to rec it. It's an utterly ridiculous twisting of the Arthur stories, of course, and I'm still in love with the 12th century versions. But the characters in this are just so damn cute, I can't resist. Therefore, an OT4 icon, made by [info] miakun, because I like them in any and every combination :-D

I don't know...

I'm just not in the mood for much of anything. I'm having my period and I think I'm coming down with a cold and I'm all with the grumpy.

I might be scarce for a day or two.

sorry

for being so absent over weekend.
it takes about 6 weeks to flip one's schedule from nights to days- couple that with these days i need to stay up until noon or get up at 2pm for appointments, and 'm not there yet. i keep thinking i'm just going to get it all organized, but ... not yet.

arm is better. sore as hell after work, but with rest it gets better. growing muscles, which is both happy-making and embarrassing- when did i lose them in the first place?

infected 'spider-bite' (which was probably not spider bite after all, no idea what started it) better also. have never had anything take this long to heal before.

paychecks are really nice things. of course i'd rather be independently comfortable, but since i'm not, it's a good feeling to earn my way.

*waves to everyone* hope you're more or less ok. or if not, that you have the support you need. blessings on your heads.

the few things i know for sure right now

Add to Memories Tell a Friend
I'm really not ready to be back at work.

I miss a lot of people right now, very very much.

This is partly why people like Phillip K. Dick were life-savers for me when I was a kid- they were working out these huge questions in a place I could get to without having to be a grown-up first. Tolkien too, and the fairy tales... i will be forever ever grateful for them.

Music is a life-saver.

so is the internet.

Life is precious, living is a gift.

tonight i'm awfully thin-skinned, full-hearted, and more than a bit sentimental.

I am so very fortunate in my friends. Thank you, everyone, so very very much.

Ick. And also, Ow.

So, ever since the gall bladder mess* I've had pretty serious acid reflux issues. Normally this isn't a problem since I'm on medication for it. However, even with the medication, if I eat too much before sleeping, I end up with this thing where acid backs up into my throat and since I'm asleep and not exactly noticing, I keep breathing. You know how sometimes, if you breathe at just the wrong moment while drinking a glass of water, you get water in your airway, which then freaks out because, oh hey, turns out you're not supposed to breathe liquid? Yeah, it's like that, only a) it's acid and b) you're sound asleep when it happens.

Obviously the answer is not to eat right before sleeping, but last night, I'd been up for over 24 hours and hadn't had food for something like 10 hours and I was getting shaky and weird. I woke up after breathing in acid three different times because, while I wanted to stay awake after the first time, I simply couldn't thanks to exhaustion and medication.

I feel like death warmed over and I have a massive migraine.

*short version: it wasn't stones so it took six weeks, during which I had three ER visits, to diagnose. On the plus side, the time between the diagnosis being made and my surgery was something like 10 hours. Also, Medicare doesn't suck.
